Bicilet: making bike rental easy

Posted on 13 Feb 2017

Frustrated by the expense and hassle of travelling with our bikes, and of the difficulty of hiring a bike, in February 2017 BICILET Bike Rental launched a new website (www.bicilet.com) that makes renting a bike easy.

https://www.bicilet.com/img/logo.jpgShops create a page on the website, and list any bikes they have available to hire. Cyclists search the platform, compare, and then book rental bikes directly, paying upon confirmation of availability by the shop.

BICILET Bike Rental believe this will make a real difference to shops and cyclists alike:

Bike shops now have a platform that will help them maximize their rental income through free placement on a strongly branded and promoted website, helping grow their business at a point in time when other revenue streams are increasingly under pressure.

  • BICILET Bike Rental want to help bike shops by providing a high quality booking tool, and a marketing plan that will help them access many more customers than they may not otherwise reach. Both of which are key aspects of a rental proposition that bike shops may not have the time or resource to focus on today.
  • Bike shops have complete control of their offer. The transaction process is set up so that partner stores have the final say with the customer on what bikes and services are offered, and at what price.
  • Marketing pre-launch led to a fantastic response, with c.180 shops signed up to date, and growing every day.

For the cyclist, BICILET Bike Rental offers a simple marketplace that will take away the pain of finding a bike to hire, enable easy comparison of what is on offer, and give confidence in the quality of the vendor. No more hours spent searching the web or firing off emails and phone calls trying to work out what is available. In addition, a secure payment system (Stripe) provides an added layer of reassurance.

  • Targeting the enthusiastic cyclist / holiday-maker who wants more than a standard city-share bike (and may not have access to them), partner shops offer a range of high quality road, mountain, electric, kids, hybrid, and tandem bikes (and more), in locations across cities, towns and villages.

Launching initially in Europe, Henry Charrington, CEO & Co-Founder, said "we want to open up bike rental to the cyclists who are put off by the hassle and expense of travelling with a bike, and don't know where to start when trying to hire a bike. We also want to grow the number of holiday-makers considering bike rental, by making the process as easy as booking a car or a place to stay. Cycling is growing in popularity - but there's a long way to go. For many, cycling on holiday may be the best place to start. The more people we can get out on the bike, the better."

Bike rental stores can sign up by going to www.bicilet.com/join+our+network, or getting in touch with the team.
