#BikeIsBest launches powerful billboard ad campaign

Posted on 8 Sep 2022

We’re giving our support again to the #BikeIsBest campaign and particularly its latest billboard campaign which disputes the arguments that electric vehicles are a "catch-all" solution and re-emphasises the importance of bikes and e-bikes.

Bike is Best campaign

The campaign’s own website sets out that there has never been a better time to ride a bike. Two-thirds of all journeys are less than five miles, and you don’t need to ride far or fast to make a difference. Half an hour of cycling is enough to improve your health, reduce your risk of illness, ease your stress levels, and benefit your mental well-being.

The new advertising campaign unifies our shared dislike of congestion (or e-congestion as #BikeIsBest have termed it), especially around the school run. It is aimed at both consumers and policymakers as to where they focus their efforts. The Department for Transport predicts that road traffic could increase by 51% by 2050, which could not be solved by building more roads. The campaign’s goal is to help shift the conversation back to "the best tool for the job" and not a one-size-fits-all transport strategy which will lead to an overweighted focus on electric cars.

The upside for the industry is that many are focusing on e-bikes and associated growth potential from their success. That makes this a good time to target the audience that feels strongly about the climate, still have disposable income, and would consider changing short journeys to cycling and potentially getting rid of a second or third family car.

The new billboard campaign is now live and, through a partnership with Clear Channel, is being shown to millions across the UK at 6-sheet and some of their premium storm locations throughout September.

It's also available on social media. Please feel free to share.
