Belhaven Bikes takes part in another LBSD!

Posted on 6 Mar 2019

Belhaven Bikes LBSD Belhaven Bikes, born in 2005, is an indie bike shop representing the local community of Dunbar and beyond.

With over 14 years of experience Belhaven Bikes offers honest, professional and specialist service, knowledge and passion for the bikes, skateboards and scooters they sell for all ages. As a member of the Association of Cycle Traders (ACT) with a Cytech Accredited workshop, Belhaven Bikes also offers servicing and repairs of bikes.

Belhaven Bikes has been a part of the Dunbar community from the get-go supporting the Dunbar schools with the Big Pedal event and many other local community events to get people cycling and outside.

Belhaven Bikes took part in the inaugural Local Bike Shop Day (LBSD) last year as it gave them the chance to raise awareness as a shop and as a collective. Along with 100 other bike shops across the UK, Belhaven Bikes was able to highlight what set them apart from the bigger corporate retailers, showcasing their specialist knowledge and personal service and how they are at the heart of their communities.

Local Bike Shop Day 2018 was an exciting time for Belhaven Bikes, the new family-friendly, bikepacking route had just launched in the East Lothian county and LBSD 2018 was the perfect time to promote the gorgeous route.

The day brought in many familiar faces and loyal friends as well as new curious individuals, bringing together not only the cycling community but the wider community. The day was filled with coffee and cake as people took part in eBike test rides and played their hand at the opportunity to win a bike service.

Markus Stitz, recognised within the bike community for his record-breaking single speed travels around the world, visited Belhaven Bikes on the morning of LBSD and put together an amazing little feature film for Belhaven Bikes.

Mandy, the owner of Belhaven Bikes, said:

"We thought it was successful as it gives an opportunity to raise awareness and keep momentum on being kept ‘front of mind', which is good for us and the other independent bike shops around the UK.

The opportunity is there for more shops, IBD focussed manufacturers, distributors, organisations and customers to get involved for 2019 and beyond".

For Mandy and her family, the best thing about LBSD was the interaction and positivity they received from customers and the entire cycle industry collectively.

Belhaven Bikes, along with many many other amazing individual indie bike shops across the UK will be taking part in LBSD 2019.
