Wins and nominations for many ACT members at BikeBiz Awards

Posted on 6 Nov 2024

ACT members won numerous awards and dominated certain category nominations at last week’s BikeBiz Awards 2024 in Birmingham.

Two categories in particular, IBD of the Year and Micromobility Retailer of the Year, were almost entirely made up of ACT members as Pedal Power Scotland claimed the IBD of the Year award, with fellow ACT members Aztecs Bikes, Cycle Supreme, Leeli Cycles, MTB Monster, and RedSky Bikes making up the nominations.

Fully Charged claimed the Micromobility Retailer of the Year category, with fellow members E-bikeshop.co.uk, Electric Life, Kinetic Revolution, and The Electric Bike Shop also among the nominees. Meanwhile, other award wins for ACT members included Madison, named P&A Distributor of the Year, with nominations for Tandem Group Cycles and Upgrade in the Bike Distributor of the Year category.

There were more notable nominations for members, with Volt selected a nominee for Micromobility Brand of the Year alongside brands such as Tern and Eskuta, while Mathilde Rineau from Volt was recognised in the prestigious BikeBiz Woman of the Year category.

Jonathan Harrison, Director of the ACT, was in attendance at the event and congratulated members on a "fantastic" awards night. He said: "To see so many of our members receiving winning awards and nominations – even making up almost the entire list of nominees in a couple of categories – goes to show how strong ACT members are within the cycling retail sector.

"I am thrilled to see these independent stores recognised for the crucial role they play in high streets up and down the UK and have no doubt that they will continue this great work into the future!"

The awards event, hosted by cycling news outlet BikeBiz at Birmingham’s Button Factory in association with biking e-commerce specialist Push, celebrated achievements in biking sector with 120 individuals from the cycling industry.

The awards were selected primarily by an expert judging panel with years of experience in cycling and micromobility, with some categories, including IBD of the Year and Woman of the Year, decided by a public industry vote.

In a visit on the day of the awards, the ACT met with member Ben from award nominee Leeli Cycles to learn more about his business and the unique challenges facing small independent bike stores today.
